In the Blue Jays classroom we follow the children's lead. They are in charge of their education and we cater their experiences to the interest of the moment. We find ways to incorporate fine motor, gross motor, and social-emotional skills into the activities and adventures they gravitate toward. This group loves to engage in risky play, but also loves to sit together and read book after book. We love going on adventures. Going to Maple Street Park is a crowd favorite! Some special interests the teachers in this group have are baking, gardening/houseplants, and pottery! We love to incorporate our passions into the classroom at any opportunity. We value connections with our families and helping build connections between our families. We love the bonds created from family events like Family Fridays and gardening days, which transfer outside of school and build community connections that will continue even after their time at First Roots.
