CATERPILLARS

In the Caterpillar classroom, we strive to create a safe, healthy, and regulated space where the children feel respected, valued, and included. Our main goal is to provide the children with a learning environment that fosters secure attachment and trust. This foundation allows us to guide other important skills such as self-help, independence, bravery, language, emotional regulation, communication and social skills with their peers and nature exploration. As educators, we hope to guide the children's growing independence and expose them to all elements of nature. We go on many adventures to CVU, the church, the local cemetery, and beyond. We provide daily sensory activities, ample outdoor time, and support emotion processing. Our classroom values the home school connection and believes that you are serving a family, not just a child.

BEAVERS

We are the Beaver class! As Beavers, we are busy adventurers and creators, exploring the world both around and inside of us. To be two is to be curious, to think deeply, to doubt and question, to be amazed, to investigate; to wonder. We encourage confidence and independence in our class by following the children's curiosity, wondering alongside them and believing in the power of their play. Whether we are working on a messy art project, building roads, towers or imaginative lands, baking bread or making our own playdoh, heading off on a worm hunt or walking to CVU, the Beaver class is fully immersed in the day's adventure. Through guided risk taking we learn to trust our bodies and the incredible things they are capable of. Our friends are using their emerging language skills to describe their inner world and engage more deeply with those around them. Together, we work to build our social-emotional toolboxes and practice the skills needed to grow into kind, caring and capable people. As educators, we know growth and learning come first from a sense of safety and security. We strive to create meaningful connections; building a sense of belonging within our classroom, wider FRWR community and as a part of our families greater support systems. We think being two (and three) is terrific!

FIREFLIES - half day program

We are the Fireflies! Our favorite place to explore is the Treehouse Playground on campus, and the Trail Maze Paths at CVU. We have a special classmate, a guinea pig named Jerry! We are a half day preschool and we manage to fill in a lot of learning in our mornings! We love a good book and to find animals on our walks. We also do a lot of cooking, we love making rolls.
It is nice to meet you!

FOXES

We are the Foxes, one of the 3-5 year old preschool classes. In our community, we are teaching about the importance of caring for one another, learning from our mistakes, and accepting that everyone is learning, growing, and trying their best. We try to bring affirmations into every day ranging from "I am kind" to "I am emotional" to "I am loving." We love nature and all of her seasons, celebrating the joys of snow on our tongues, worms in our hands, and sun on our cheeks. We are cooks, gardeners, and emerging stewards of the land. We are imaginative and creative and love family play and art of all kinds, weaving literacy and cognitive learning into play.

FISHER CATS

We are the Fisher Cats! That is the afterschool program at FRWR! It runs from 3-5:15. The teachers, Maria and Cole, also work with the Fireflies in the morning. It is a shared classroom space. The Fisher Cats enjoy long walks to the Cemetery and Milkweed Mountain in the town of Hinesburg. They really love when they can have an all day mini camp during public school breaks. Some of their interests right now include lots of building
